Chile Update
March 7, 2010
Hi all,
I don't have much to tell you. I know George has been in Temuco, Rancagua, and other cities south of Santiago. He said getting there was tough because of all the traffic trying to go south and because of damaged roads. Communications have been few and far between. Tonight I spoke with him for about 2 minutes via sat phone. He and Barry were on back roads trying to avoid roads that were out/damaged and they had been lost for a couple of hours. They were looking for a place to spend the night in Rancagua and somewhere to eat. They seemed pretty tired.
Pray that the Lord will strengthen them and that they will find a place to rest and food to eat.
Thanks everyone!

Hi!
George and Barry had a busy day in Santiago. They met with some Chilean officials, the president of the Red Cross, and a corporate sponsor who in the past has worked with Heart to Heart.
They have rented a truck and will leave early tomorrow am for the south.
He said things in Santiago seem very normal like there wasn't a quake at all but that the officials say not to let that fool you. The further south you go the worse it gets.
Apparently there were some aftershocks today but George did not feel them.
Pray that the little bit of rest they get tonight will recharge them for the days ahead.
Thanks for praying!
Heather
PS There is one new video on Barry's site. I can assure you that both guys are showered and clean today :)

Chile Update

Colton and I were blessed by a skype call from George tonight. He and Barry made it safely to Santiago and are staying in the mission house tonight. The plan is to hit the road tomorrow AM in a rented car and travel south. (No more buses!)
Please pray that they will get the rental car tomorrow am and for safe travels.
Thanks everyone!

Chile Earthquake Update
March 1, 2010
Well, George recieved word today that Heart to Heart does want to get BOG'S (boots on the ground) in Chile. He and his fun-loving side kick Barry Carney will leave tomorrow morning around 10am. (George from Ohio and Barry from Kansas City). They travel to New York, and fly overnight to Argentina. There they will meet with regional Nazarene leadership to assess the needs reported to them from the field in Chile. Then it will be on to Chile via car.
Once again we covet your prayers for a safe trip, wisdom, and that God would send them where they can help the most.
Thanks!
Heather
Chile Earthquake Update

Hi guys!
I talked to George tonight around 8:30 our time (10:30 his time). He and Barry had just boarded a bus headed from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Mendoza, Chile. They were to arrive there sometime in the am and then transfer to a different bus that would take them further south to Santiago. Basically it's a 24 hour bus ride! They will arrive in Santiago late Thurs night and Friday am the plan is to try to get further south into Concepcion. Their spirits are good and they were going to try to get some sleep on the bus. I will let you know as I hear more from them tomorrow night.

Hi guys!
We just got home with a very tired, hungry, and skinnier daddy. He is in the shower as I type. I praise the Lord for his safe return home to us. Thank you all for your countless prayers lifted on his (and our) behalf. Already he has begun the process of sharing neat things the Lord has done and heart breaking things he saw and dealt with.
Continue to pray for the team he left behind and the suffering people in Haiti.
God Bless!

Febuary 9, 2010
George's time in Haiti is quickly wrapping up.
This past Sunday he had the honor of asking the Bel Air Church of the Nazarene congregation and leadership if they would permit the Heart-to-Heart team to house a more permanent clinic in their building. The congregation and leadership agreed and today they sent 2 providers and began to see patients there. The needs were so great that tomorrow they will send 4 providers and continue to minister to the people in the community around the church. The church is located just a few blocks from the large Catholic Cathedral that many of you may have seen on the news just after the quake.
George said the other day that there are still very difficult situations. People are still dying (especially babies) but not at the rate that they were seeing before. I can not imagine how hard this has been for the team and those who have lost loved ones. I know they are leaning on the Lord as never before and still covet your prayers. George asked us to specifically pray that the doctors will have the correct medicines to treat the patients they are seeing. He went the other day to try to find what the docs were asking for. Another aid group had what they needed and were willing to share with them. They needed more gloves and Heart to Heart shared with them. It is such a blessing to see how the different aid groups are pulling together and helping each other serve the people of Haiti.
Thank you for your prayer cover!
